Molly Sadd and Jovian Duff are deeply in love, but their relationship takes a tragic turn. On the second day of their engagement, Molly is framed by Jovian's admirer, Kalyn Streep, who orchestrates a situation that makes it appear as though Molly is having an affair with Jovian's cousin, Eli Duff. Deceived by this false evidence, Jovian believes Molly has betrayed him. He causes the collapse of Molly's family business, leading to her father's mental breakdown.
