The humble villager, Charles Leigh, was forced to jump off a building after requesting his unpaid wages from Mark Zabel to fund his son's tuition fees. Eight years later, his son, Zachary Leigh, has become a successful man and is set to marry Mark's daughter, Winona Zabel. Meanwhile, Charles, who broke his leg in the fall, can't afford treatment and now makes a living by planting vegetables.
